Okay, I am not a huge critic, I swear, but if it it can make me feel something, then it is worthy of mention.

Oh Well...

Posted : 16 years, 4 months ago on 28 December 2007 03:10 (A review of The Invisible)

I was really excited about this film, and had persuaded a group of friends to see it with me. I felt kinda lame afterwards, this film had so much potential, and the way it was presented was not how it was at all. This film is weak, and it sputters, drags, and bores; this film was bleak, everything was just gray and a blur, there was maybe one interesting scene, but then Im pretty sure I am thinking of a Supernatural episode with a similiar plot. Anyways it was an utter disappointment, and just the way the characters interacted made me sick, it seemed too much as if they were trying to act. The only thing they did well, was put together interesting trailors.

I Don't Have Any Friends!

Posted : 16 years, 4 months ago on 7 December 2007 02:35 (A review of May)

I like to watch this film alone, or with my good bipolar friend Jessica. At times we all feel like we have no one who wants us and that we are utterly alone. You can either listen to Mariah Carey's "Hero" OR you can go this kind of crazy! How far does the soul go to be touched? And how much hurt can one take? Where are the answers to loneliness? It is within you, is Mariah right? Or maybe you have just gone insane, and the only love you have found is within your own psychotic delusions.

So Far...

Posted : 16 years, 5 months ago on 30 November 2007 02:33 (A review of Kyle XY)

Interesting, creative, and one I am going to get into. I've watched a bit of this series, and so far I'm taken. I'll update this review as I watch more of the episodes!

The Controversy!

Posted : 16 years, 5 months ago on 28 November 2007 03:36 (A review of The Giving Tree)

"Is this a sad tale? Well, it is sad in the same way that life is sad. We are all needy, and, if we are lucky and any good, we grow old using others and getting used up. Tears fall in our lives like leaves from a tree. Our finitude is not something to be regretted or despised, however; it is what makes giving (and receiving) possible. The more you blame the boy, the more you have to fault human existence. The more you blame the tree, the more you have to fault the very idea of parenting. Should the tree's giving be contingent on the boy's gratitude? If it were, if fathers and mothers waited on reciprocity before caring for their young, then we would all be doomed." (Timothy Jackson, a professor of Religious Studies at Stanford University)

The Greatest Love of All

Posted : 16 years, 5 months ago on 28 November 2007 03:34 (A review of The Giving Tree)

Just reading the description brings me back to the tears I cried long ago when I read this. Such selflessness of unconditional love. A great and bountiful tree gives all that it has out of its love for the child. Her leaves, apples, her branches, trunk, everything for his happiness. The relationship between the tree and the boy is very much similiar to that between a mother and her child; despite getting nothing in return for a long time, the tree puts the boy's needs foremost. In the twilight of his death, the boy returns, when he is old and gray, when he is weary and his life is lived; he returns to the tree. Though when he does, she is as he left her, a stump, a shadow of what she was. She seems to be the saddest in that she has nothing more to offer him, but all he seeks is a place to rest, and she offers what remains of her, her stump, for him to rest upon. This book came under much controversy, but I have to say with misty eyes that this is a heartachingly beautiful book.

Baby Please Come Home!

Posted : 16 years, 5 months ago on 28 November 2007 02:39 (A review of Merry Christmas)

Though its one of the greatest Christmas albums of all time, this is my favorite. Mariah really delivers with her latest multi-platinum record, she could possibly be identified as the embodiment of the holiday. Mariah has stated she is quite the festive spirit, and she proves herself here. Her vocals are flawless and in perfect harmony with the holiday joy. The style of singing in this great album has a certain classic taste to it. "All I Want For Christmas Is You" had been thought to be a covered classic, but many were surprised to find Mariah Carey (who writes her own material) & once long-time close friend Walter Afanasieff wrote the song.

I'm Definately Feeling Emotions!

Posted : 16 years, 5 months ago on 27 November 2007 09:46 (A review of Emotions)

Mariah's voice is always a beautiful power to behold. The first five songs are amazing, the other half of the album are of another taste, but the voice remains. "Emotions" is a song of youthful spirit. "And You Don't Remember" & "If It's Over" are testaments of the human soul. Definately more depth manifesting itself within this voice of a goddess. This is another record I am glad I have.

In The Beginning...

Posted : 16 years, 5 months ago on 27 November 2007 09:25 (A review of Mariah Carey)

Okay, "The Voice" is amazing here, it is beautiful and there is a hue of sadness within it, but with a youthful strength it promises to endure hell. Though one-third of these tracks don't live on due to the time-trapped sound; the vocals are immortal. This is when Mariah's voice was untouchable. If this voice had been just a bit well guarded it would have remained strong till the day it actually saw the day of Mariah's evolved sound of soul and depth. The vocals are awe-inspiring, and for those who admire the human voice, this record is a must. I personally own all of Mariah Carey's CDs, and I am still enthralled by this dramatic-coloratura soprano. The Best-Selling Album of 1991, Four Number-One Singles, Massively Underrated (Only Two Grammys! That's why I go with Billboard, less political. Again this happens with Mariah Carey's 2005 album as well, the best-selling album of that year, and who gets the award? U2. You know, the guys who go all political to make more money. The Grammys are crap!)

Watch It!

Posted : 16 years, 5 months ago on 27 November 2007 08:42 (A review of Stardust)

Michelle Pheiffer, "Lamia", she was amazing, hilarious, tragic tragedy which made me cry, then laugh two seconds later. This film reminded me of how much I love her. She was the centerpiece of this beautiful fairytale. The world was gorgeous, the CG-Imagery was well done, I am definately going to buy this movie! I saw this film with my friends of 20-somethings, we enjoyed it, there were elderly few in the theaters as well, they were laughing, it's just a good movie.

Grindhouse: Death Proof

Posted : 16 years, 5 months ago on 27 November 2007 07:45 (A review of Death Proof)

Death Proof was a little slow in the beginning, but it worked in the end for me. Tracie Thoms was funny, the acting was pretty good, the deaths were Mortal Kombat worthy, and the end was great! This film was uncredibly underrated, because it is definately worthy of purchase.
